About the Item

Handmade one of a kind patchwork purse created using multiple types of recycled decorator fabric. I call it "Blue Monday"

What to do when you have pieces of beautiful fabric, none of which is large enough for a purse?

My answer was to make a kind of crazy quilt of five coordinating fabrics on a cotton muslin backing. The faux suede paisley is used in the body as well as to make the handles. The dark blue heavy cotton matelasse and two synthetic blend powder blue fabrics are used only in the body. The upper band, and some patches are constructed of a jacquard which is overprinted with a blue print. This fabric is lighter weight than the other decorator fabrics, so I underlined it with cotton batting, and then randomly quilted it to add interest and body.

The gold and blue ribbon used to decorate the patches is not a one of a kind remnant, but was purchased from an Etsy seller, trimgoddess.etsy.com

Inside the purse are a key clip and a loop. The loop is for the matching change purse with a side pocket that is included in the purchase.

The bag is 16 inches wide at the bottom, 15 inches tall, and10 inches wide at the top. The straps are each 27 inches long. The closure is a magnetic snap. The lining is cut from a heavy faux dupioni drapery remnant. The entire bag is interfaced with 100% cotton canvas.

This is a one of a kind bag. However, if you like this idea, but not these colors, fabrics or style, please convo me, and I will work with you to create a custom quilted bag. I have lots of lovely pieces of decorator fabric that must be kept out of the landfill!
