This brooch features a section of a late 1990s London A-Z, focusing on Hackney Wick. As part of the summer sale, it has been reduced from £6 to £4.50.
Hackney Wick has changed a lot since this map was drawn up, and that green recreation ground you can see is now part of the new Olympics complex.
When I stumbled across this A-Z in my loft, I wanted to capture a bit of 'Old Hackney Wick' forever and was inspired to make this and a few other London-themed brooches.
This map has been carefully placed between an antique brass back and an oval dome. The glass dome really makes the image stand out and gives it a cameo feel.
It is approximately 4cm x 3cm (at the widest points, including the setting).
