About the Item

This planter pot is wheel thrown in a speckled brown stoneware clay and glazed in a matte turquoise glaze. This is my favorite glaze for my embellished pots because any combination of fiber and beads looks good against it. This glaze also has a lovely matte finish, not glossy, and it does this marvelous, rustic thing when you wipe it down to the clay. You will notice several areas where I have done this to play up the weathered look which looks great with the color and texture of the surface.

I've added little letter stamped circles on the front of the pot that spell out "BLOOM" and accented them with red iron oxide. Instead of trimming a foot ring on the base I added three little feet (I call them tootsie roll feet!) and two little bracket handles.

The pot is 3 1/2 inches wide at the opening, about 5 inches wide at the belly and 5 1/4 inches tall. It could just be the perfect pot to keep on the windowsill with your newest blooms - I'm partial to begonias as they are one of the few plants I don't kill! And wouldn't orange marigolds just pop against the turquoise?

This piece can also be used as a utensil holder or a vase. It's a sturdy little pot that won't tip over easily when used as a vase or utensil holder.
