About the Item

Crowning jewels of any butterfly collection, Birdwings are sure to impress. Ornithoptera Priamus Poseidon, seen here, is native to Papua New Guinea, the leader in sustainable butterfly farming. Farmers there have actually helped to pull some other, more vulnerable, birdwing species from the brink of extinction through farming. O. priamus poseidon is one of the more common species and therefore one of the most affordable!
The butterfly itself is electric green and measures about six inches across. Its massive yellow and black body is one of the biggest in the butterfly world. This specimen is a male. The whole frame measures about 11x13 inches with the framed area being 8x10". It is about one inch deep and comes ready to stand upright or hang on your wall. The outer edge of the frame is made from decorative black wood.
Please keep in mind that real butterflies can fade if constantly exposed to direct sunlight. Choose the proper location for this piece, and it will last for many years to come. Each piece comes with a card card and species identification on the back side.
