Warm Up at the Kiln with Liam from Merlin Glass: Guest Post from Modenus

I got an email last night from someone I had met on Twitter many months ago and who’s work I have loved from the start and now, after the email, appreciate even more. I am talking about Liam and Carol the owners of Merlin Glass in Cornwall. (@merlinglass to you Twitterati). Not only had I come across their work early on, they’ve also been one of the first manufacturers to allow us to list them on Modenus.  The email, containing a video was sent late at night and from a very frozen British Isle which makes what I’m about to show you even more alluring because it reflects all the warmth, love and passion that make a small artisan studio a truly great one. So please slow down for a moment and enjoy the video the two have put together.

Merlin Glass specialise in knobs. Handmade door and cabinet knobs to be exact and with endless design options for a truly bespoke project. If you’ve ever designed a kitchen you’ll know that adding the right hardware is the final dot on the “I”. It adds character and personality to the design and this is certainly one line to consider for your next project.

This has to be my favorite and the peridot color catches my attention every time I come across Merlin’s products on Modenus. This is part of their standard range but…..

…. the sky is the limit and when Liam says “anything is possible” in what I imagine to be a thick Cornish accent, I think he means it.

But we know you’re busy so we’ll cut through the chase and show you the video that is sure to inspire you, warm you and remind you to slow down and appreciate a simple work of art.

Incredibly well done video – but most impressive is the beauty of the glass and amazingly high quality craftsmanship! The video was too short! I wanted to continue watching the glass blowing and see even more of the process. Simply stunning work!

Congratulations! I run constantly, seriously. But, this got me to slow down for a couple of minutes.

Your work is incredible. I’ve never seen items of this nature before. And to think of what they can add to a room. Beautiful.
