We used to think of them as the things that detectives wore when solving a case, but now, nothing says style like a trench coat. They can be worn with your best dress or with your best pair of jeans. Either way, trench coats know how to spruce things up! This trench coat in particular is a great piece of clothing.  It comes from the wonderful IvyTangCollection, clothing from a New York based fashion designer (and I must say…it’s all REALLY cute).

One of my all time favorite celebrities is Rachel McAdams. She’s a Canadian actress who’s had roles in some of my favorite movies such as The Notebook, Mean Girls, and The Time Traveler’s Wife. She truly is a gifted performer and a very stylish person. And, get this… she has a whole blog (along with 2 of her best friends) called Green is Sexy, which gives tips on how to choose environmentally friendly things instead of the things we normally buy from the local grocery store.

Her look here is kind of classy-meets-business-Barbie. This versatile outfit is something you could wear to a business meeting, a luncheon, or even shopping!

1. Trench Coat – I love the neckline, sleeves, buttons, waist, and bottom of this coat! Oh…what the hey, I LOVE THE WHOLE THING!

2. Black Pumps – These pumps have a rounded toe, which is a lot more simplistic than the dramatic pointed toe.

3. Checkered Dress – This dress typically falls right at or below the knee, so it’s classy without being too revealing.

4. Grey Purse – This purse is just the right size. Big enough to hold all of your stuff, but small enough so it doesn’t look like you’re lugging around a hamper.

Remember, you don’t need to spend money like a celebrity to look like one.
