Prepare For Your Selling Season!

stock up
I think many of us have a season where things are especially slow, and another season where things really speed up.

We should be taking advantage of our slow season!  This is a great time for building up an inventory for when things speed up.

With my own shop, winter is a bad time for selling. Most of my products have more of a springtime and warm weather feel to them, so during the winter, I cuddle up with my afghan, a cup of homemade mocha, and a crochet hook and thread, and begin stocking up for spring!

I set a goal of how many I want to sell during my selling season, and then I make the proper amount of product to reach that goal. After I have a good build up, I begin photographing them a few at a time. I usually photograph 5 or 6 products a day, but you can do it however you want!
Once my pictures are processed and any editing that needed done is complete, my products are now ready for listing!

You can create your listings ahead of time too! Here is how you can do that.

Create your listings like normal, all the way up to the last step. Instead of clicking “Finish”, copy and paste the URL into a word document, and save to your computer.

I just use Text Edit on my mac, but you can use whatever program you want. It will look something like this.

Later, when you are ready to list a product, you can copy a URL from the word document and paste it back into your browser. You can now click the “Finish” button, and your item will be listed!
How about doing this with a lot of listings, and saving them all to a word document for later?
Grabbing a URL from your document when you need to list something will only take a moment, and you will have much more time for doing other things during your selling season, including promoting your work!

Great advice! It took seeing your screen shots of your computer for me to finally “get” how to hold off listing my items until I’m ready to have them listed! Thanks for making it so easy!

What a great idea on how to list in advance without posting. I never thought of copying/pasting the individual URL! I knew their had to be a way…

    Thanks!

What a great idea. I guess I am just going to repeat what everyone else said. I never thought of that. Thanks

What a wonderful idea!!! I have often wondered how to get to a certain point in my listing and then save to post it on a later date. You are truly a genius! Thank you!

Oh, great advice! :) I always seem to be scrambling at Christmas-time. This is a great way to prepare. (I love using the basic TextEdit for all sorts of projects on my mac, too!) :)
