Starting Your Handmade Blog On Blogger (Lesson 1)
Blogger is the first choice of blogging platforms in the Handmade scene. Blogger is super fast to set up and simple to maintain. In this first lesson I will be showing you how simple it is to start a blog on the Blogger platform.
To get stared head over to Blogger.com. You will notice that you can with your Google Account if you have one. If you don’t have a Google Account just click on the big orange button that says create a blog.
Clicking the orange button takes you to the page above where you will be able to create a Google Account. The first step asks you to enter any email address. This doesn’t have to be a Gmail address , it can be any address. This address you will use to login to Blogger and other Google services. Once you enter your address, you will need to retype it in step 2. Step 3 requires you to enter a password that must be 8 characters or longer. Step 4 retype your password. Step 5 you will enter the display name you want to show when you are writing a blog post. I recommend using your name. Between step 5 and 6 there is an optin box to receive announcements, tips and other info. You can leave this checked to receive the info, or uncheck if you don’t want it. Step 6 is just for security reasons and to make sure you are not a robot. Last step is to accept the Terms. Once your info is all correct just hit the orange continue bottom at the bottom.
This is where you are going to name your blog and give it an address. Make sure your title and your address (url) match. You can check the availability of your address by click the blue text under the box where you type your address.
Here is where you will pick a template for your blog. This can be changed at any time after you start your blog. Also in future lessons we will be covering how to find and load more custom templates.
Now your blog is ready and you can start blogging.
In the next lesson we will cover some basic setup settings you will want to change and consider.
