Playing Favorites – tips for sellers and buyers
One of the most useful tools to me as a seller is the Favorites section on Etsy.
Did someone heart your shop? Why not click on their profile and check out some of their favorites?
Did someone heart an item of yours? Even better – check out their other favorite items.
Did someone purchase one of your items? Awesome! Now go and check out some of their other favorites.
You can learn a lot from your “browsers” and your buyers by looking at their Favorite Shops and Favorite Items. What colors are they drawn to? Is there a theme to the items they choose? What other shops do they like? Are there key words (literally the tags used) with your item and others in someone’s favorites? Are there tags you could be using? Should be using?
When I look at someone’s favorites, I will undoubtedly discover new shops that I myself end up “hearting” (the term commonly used when marking something as a favorite on Etsy). What I also find is what else is selling, what else is popular, what else is trending, what else is interesting. There are countless ways you could utilize the Favorites lists of your browsers and buyers.
And what about tips for buyers? Use your favorites! There’s no commitment involved when you add a product to your Favorite Items, or a shop to your Favorite Shops. You can undo that action at any time. But please consider using your favorites when you love a purchase you’ve made from a seller. Don’t always think you’ll remember that shop – please heart that shop so you won’t forget.
The items featured in this post were found – you guessed it – by browsing other people’s favorites on Etsy!
