Gorgeous photographs as far as it goes on Etsy and other handmade communities are in abundance.  Product photography is getting better and the handmade stalls that I would call exceptional, really are for the fact that their items just ‘pop’ on the page due to their creators implicating careful and considered photography/post production.

Yet in this mix I fail to notice half as much as I would LOVE to see, all the beauty held from those that make a living or even simply a hobby out of photography be it our nature lovers or portrait devotees.  Where are they all???

Note that I said ‘half as much’, as now and then a photographer will pop up on the Etsy homepage for example with something amazing from their portfolio.  Yet although I realise Etsy is primarily a crafts and supplies market place, even the top level catagory that photographers are part of as a sub, namely the ART catagory fails at best to showcase the talents of our communities talented artists anywhere near as much as the crafts side of things.  Not just the photographers!  I have stumbled across many forum threads on the subject, and with photographers in mind I know we would love to segregate ourselves into a top level catagory of our own, making the chance to be noticed on the Etsy homepage much greater.  In the meantime its wonderful groups like the POE (photographers of Etsy) and fPOE (female photographers of Etsy) make grand efforts of their own to show off the works of our budding snappers, and likewise i know their are other groups and even individuals that do the same.

I would like to make a regular attempt to do the same and give you all a chance to see some great photography standing alone and apart from the other catagories adorning the Etsy pages, as there are some truely dedicated shutterbugs out there that i know would love a little more exposure of their work.  So here born today is Photography Spark!  Here is my top 5 faves!  Enjoy :)
