Finding your Spark : Product Photography – Motivation and Inspiration

What inspires you? Be it a spectacular painting, a photograph that engages the mind or an intriguing setting for your products from your craft, an image has powerful selling potential and with this power comes your purpose. What is your purpose?
Besides selling your products, I’m sure this is a question that will pop up in your head at some stage. I can never believe that one wants to pursue any sort of artistic venture simply to make money as a means to an end and nothing more. Part of being an artist is the compelling urge to share your creativity with the world at large simply for the pleasure of doing so, and to hopefully inspire others in the process. Being an artist is something that instills the communal bug in you and it’s always so special to know that surrounding you and always there to support, are other artists on the same creative journey.

For your art this means digging deep, and being confident in who you are to find your own source of inspiration behind whatever it is you plan to do. And that energy then needs to be channeled to the choice of imagery you use to promote your product. Like mentioned before in my post about Getting The Best Out Of Your Photography, a bad product photo in any selling venue is not going to do you any favours in terms of customer opinion, as your images will be seen as a reflection of your professionalism. So again what is the inspiration behind your work? I ask simply because the driving force behind your business is what will ultimately save your images from letting your masterpieces down, and for photographers it’ll be a stark reminder to always conduct your shoots in a positively critical way, to always achieve the highest you can with the photos you capture and post-production accordingly. Your source of inspiration is what gives you the warm and unequivocal sense of intent with whatever you set out to do. With this drive comes your ideas. But for some it can wane when photographing comes in to play, or worst still if something happens to demotivate the aspiring artist.

I want to remind you all to remember what you set out to to and feel encouraged by the force behind the amazing work you create. And that is yourselves. Always feel positive about what you do and consult your photography if necessary to make the necessary change (be it better lighting, investing in a good camera etc) that will show the world what you truely feel inside about your businesses. It will show, and with your confidence shining across the millions of browsers around the world, so will the opinions of your work. Make your stores a showroom of excellence and work on your product photography! What initially inspired you is a spark you never want to go out so kindle it and help it grow.
