Craft Show Tip of the Week

Setting up for a craft show

Getting Ready!

I have been going to craft shows since I was a kid,as  I’m sure many people have, however I went with my mom, as a vendor.

I learned very early on what sells.  A confident, and friendly artisan!  Yes YOU sell your product more then your product does.

Your customers glance at your product, then take a good look at you. Being clean, in a great outfit, and wearing a nice genuine friendly smile is the most effective way of letting them know that the person who made these items is real, and someone they just might enjoy talking to. When asked about a price, answer with confidence. Let them know in your reply that you know your items are quality, and well worth every penny.

I think sometimes we forget that we are JUST as much a part of the display as our product is.  So at your next show put that smile on and sell sell sell!!!!!

Great advice! It really does make a difference.

So true! It’s all about making people feel comfortable to come a bit closer, so they can see/touch/smell your products and you can start engaging with them

Oh, this is SO true! I hadn’t thought much about it until now, but the seller does have a big influence on the buyer!

Yes, I totally agree! One of my relatives noticed me paying a lot of attention to my appearance before a show and said “does it really matter what you look like?” and I thought, yes – it’s part of the whole package of selling…people want to be greeted by someone who has a well-kept appearance and most importantly a friendly face…thanks for confirming this for us all!

Very good point. I also think it’s important to be friendly without being “pushy”. I have been driven out of many crafters’ booths by vendors who just don’t let me relax and brouse their wares.
