7 Blogger Success Tips

Blogger Success Tips

1: Keep those posts coming! One thing that will keep people coming back is a blog that is consistently updated. Look for good content to hold their interest. Ask yourself, “what would I enjoy reading on a blog?”  If it appeals to you, then it will probably appeal to many others as well! Consistent good content keeps people coming back, and ensures people will pay attention to what you write.

2: Include pictures in your posts. Most people are very visual, and will stay longer if there are pictures to look at.  Break up your text with pictures in between paragraphs.

3: Try to keep your blog as professional looking as possible. If you have a lot of stuff to put on your blog sidebars like I do, try and keep it as organized as possible.

Profeshional Blogger

I recently did some major reconstruction to my blog, it was getting so messy and I decided to throw some things out that I didn’t need, and make what was left look neater.
I’m so glad I did, it looks great now compared to what it did!

4: Include key phrases in your posts when possible. Think, what key phrase would someone use when searching for this particular post?

5: Comment on other blogs when you get the chance, and link your comments to your blog URL. The more popular the blog, the better! You will become more popular with google if there are other sites linking to you.

6: Host a giveaway on occasion. To boost my traffic, I do a giveaway now and then.

Host a Giveaway to Boost Traffic

Sometimes I give away one of my own products, and sometimes I host a giveaway for another seller. This way the seller and I can both promote the giveaway, and this doubles the traffic.

7: Promote your new posts via social networking sites, such as twitter, facebook, etc. There’s always forum threads on Etsy where you can promote your blog, too. The Etsy forums are a great way to bring like minded crafters to your blog.

And before I end this post, let me say, give it time! It takes time for people to start finding you on the web. It takes time for google to start liking you!

A little patience goes a long way, but in the end, it’s well worth it!

Pictures are always good! Great tips. How do you link your name to the comment?

Thanks Debi! When you comment on someone’s blog, there will usually be right underneath the comment box something that says “choose an identity”.
You will notice that it says:

    OpenID
    Name/URL
    Anonymous

Choose Name/URL and type your name and the URL to your blog in there. Your name will now be linked to your blog.

Of course there are some blogs that have this feature disallowed, and if they do, you won’t be able to link your name to your blog :( Oh well.

Andrea, twitter is a great tool, but first it’s important to build up a good following. I think Tim has some great articles on using twitter around here somewhere! :)
